I remember in the early 60s aquiring two martini henry rifles, they had been converted to fire .22 long rimfire.I believe a lot of these rifles were altered so as they could teach soldiers to shoot, at low cost.I also remember seeing hundreds of these rifles in stacks, floor to ceiling, at the Parker hayle workshop that was in the grounds of the B.S.A. small heath Birmingham. I think your site is great.
Likely ARTEMIS , note what appears to be gun tower hatch . The extended T like TIPTOE had the gun tower removed . Served on TIPTOE in 1952 before she was converted -- but that's no help in identifying her !! I think is certain ARTEMIS and TIPTOE lay alongside each other for a long time at Pounds
mark, i just saw your quirie on the fosbery grips. Nills Griffe make custom grips specific to pistols(by no stretch of the imagination are they inexpensive) but your auto revolver would be a handsome relic in a set
It seems that year 2014 is expected to be full of joyful astonishments for 3D printing consumers and challenges for the printer makers. Though, it is clear that if a major part of those predictions going to become a reality, it will have an essential impact for whole 3D printing market.
The guns weren´t fired in anger but in clear self defence - and yes - it was a wake up call for the serbs. Politicians in the UN grew quite angry on the Danish contingent, but soldiers found an icon in lieutenant colonel Møller who just retired a few days ago (he has written a couple of books....great work). He is known amongst Danish soldiers as the one true fighter - not being scared og speaking his mind even if it triggers a bad standing - as long as it´s true. He defends the little man in the army.....he deserves respect!!!! Greetings from Denmark and a former UN peace keeper.
Aug 25th, 1885. In a story in the New York Times, a noted British soldier, adventurer and African traveler Col. C. Chaille Long, reported that he believes General Gordon, recently besieged and believed killed, has escaped Khartoum and is holed up in Gondocora, 1,500 miles south of Khartoum. He also stated that his belief that Gordon is now marching to the rear of the Mahdi force, which would produce, he says, a truly Gordonian coup de theatre!
