One thing the Queen of England knows, having an army that can handle a rifle is of supreme importance, whether or not that includes the general populace. This is brought home by this picture of the Queen shooting the SA-80 during her Jubilee Celebration. Not one to be squeamish about firearms, like her country's newspapers seem to be, she also lends her name to numerous military organizations, like the Canadian Queen's Own Rifles.
And I just found out on The Skeptical Bureaucrat that the Queen is the last head of state who was a WW2 vet, serving with the British Army Territorial Service. What a gal!
