In a story from Wales Online, The 10,000 Zulu warriors who fell during the Anglo-Zulu war are finally going to get a memorial. The only memorials there now are for British soldiers from the period. The government of KwaZulu Natal is undertaken an oral history project to gather the names of the warriors as the Zulu army kept no records.

The medals, letters and skeches of Captain John Slade, one of the survivors of the battle of Maiwand in the 2nd Afghan War, went on sale on December 15th, 2009 at Sherborne, Dorset. Known as 'johnny of Maiwand', he considered the battle "too awful to describe". The battle took place on July 27th, 1880 at Maiwand villiage. The sketches sold depict the battle. From the Mail Online.
