At the absolute height of the British Empire in 1922, it's troops were literally stationed all over the world. The Empire covered a quarter of the world's landmass and if you add in all the countries that had protection agreements with the Brits, the sun didn't set on the Brits. This map shows the countries that had been part of the Empire at one time or other.
Today the British soldier, sailor and marine is still stationed all over the world. Times may have changed and the Empire may have passed into history, but things are better now (except for Afghanistan). The British soldier may not have been welcomed with open arms where they were stationed in 1922, but are welcomed today. This map shows where they all are now.. not much different.
